What are the possible and recommended ways to export data to excel file which needs to have some specific formatting?

Hi,
you can't change the export format: www.microsoft.com/.../export-data-to-excel.aspx
What you can do after exporting the excel file is to convert is to the desired format(csv, txt,...)
Maybe create an SSRS report - in which case you can format the output the way you need it. Once you run the report, you can save it as an excel file then..
Or you might try creating a dynamics spreadsheet (in which case you can bring the data over to one worksheet and have it formatted in another right in excel). Or, instead of Dynamic spreadsheet, might use Power Query (which is included with Excel 2016)

Actually, my requirement is to create excel file through custom button and then save it to the end user's machine. I was thinking of creating the file through plugin with the formatting.
