Filter criteria which will return all accounts of business unit and all child business units

I'm new to CRM and have been losing my mind trying to figure out a problem that seems so SIMPLE that I must be missing something. All I want to do is create a system view with a filter criteria which will return all the accounts of the current users Business Unit and all the accounts of Child Business units. Currently, we have organizational read access on Accounts so I want a view which will show only my BU and all child BU’s (which can be 5 tiers deep).

The following is the best I could get to date which only returns 2 tiers current BU and one child BU.

Please tell me I'm missing something simple ...

    Hi JRay101,

Are you just trying to Apply a filter for a lookup field, or do you want to create a view that can be selected from the Accounts main page or the 'Look Up More Records' window?

I tried creating a view using the Advanced but only accomplished as much as you had.  To do what you want might require some JavaScript code or a plugin.  If you just want to filter a lookup, you can follow examples like below.  I've used these JavaScript functions myself.

    www.magnetismsolutions.com/.../crm-2013-javascript-lookup-filtering-using-addcustomfilter

    www.inogic.com/.../apply-custom-filter-on-lookup-field-in-dynamic-crm-using-script

    www.nalashaa.com/filtered-lookup-dynamics-crm-2013

If you want to create a View that can be selected, I did find www.credera.com/.../crm-2011-creating-view-records-shared-user but I have never used or tested this myself.

    Thanks for the reply KG_CRM!

What I'm looking to do is create a new system view selected from the Accounts main page.  I was hoping this would be a simple filter. Like maybe use the default teams entities which are created with the business units?  However, you maybe correct and it may only be achievable via custom code :(

I'm only a CRM amateur so hopefully one of the experts here knows of a better solution for you.  Good luck.
