Click to call set up for Lync - end users get pushed to Skype - frustration abounds

Hi all;

I am a system admin on an onpremise CRM2013

when I first tried to call a contact in CRM it opened Skype - also for my test group. I went into admin and set it to open Lync.

This solved my issue - I can now Lync call direct from contacts

However; the test group still have issues. No matter what they do the click to call allways opens Skype - even if they uninstall Skype. The issue seems browser related IE11 giving issues; Chrome seems to be confused, it shows a Skype icon, but will open Lync after a bamboozling alert.

Obviously if people had Skype credit there'd be no issue; howvever we can only make Lync calls but the click to call will not open Lync

help please!!

    OK - WTF - I fixed this by asking end users to disable the Lync click to call add in in IE11

    Lync click to call works if you disable it.... madness!
