inventory posting setup does not exist

Hi There:

Upon trying to finish a production order in Business Central Manufacturing, I'm getting "Inventory Posting Setup does not exist". In fact, it does exist.

I have taken the usual steps of accessing the Inventory Setup window, configuring Posting Groups, and adding the Location to the Inventory Posting Group Code along with the proper G/L accounts. But, I still receive this error.

How do I get rid of this error?

Greetings John,

Thank you for posting. I am not certain at this point. Have you tried using the ? > Help & Support with either Page Inspection or View last known error to see it gives further guidance on the Item that is missing the required setup.

Was either the Output Item or any of the BOM Item Components missing the Inventory Posting Group prior to creating the Released Production Order?

The reason is that in certain cases you will have to reselect the Items to revalidate the Item so the Inventory Posting Group added to the Item after originally creating the Released Production Order can be updated to the respective lines.

I figured it out.

All Item Posting Groups have to be coded to blank locations in Inventory Posting Setup - not just coded to "regular" locations.

Hi John,

This is Bryan, same guy that answered your Part 2 Sequel :)

A couple possible explanations here....

1. Because when we clear WIP (and we do that when Prod. Order is Finished AND Adjust Cost is run via 'Auto Cost Adjustment' = ALWAYS) we clear WIP out from the Inventory Posting Group for that FG Item and from the "Blank" location record.

OR if Capacity is backflushed during Finishing Prod. Order, capacity is posted with blank Location.

Please check if you a setup with blank location. That is mandatory
