Need to load Excel on Terminal Server running GP 2010?

Can you run GP (2010 or later) on a Terminal Server without putting Excel on the Terminal Server (hence needing to buy TS licenses) if users have it locally on their workstations, without losing SmartList and other functionality? The newest Terminal Server has 'Remote App', will that make any difference? Is this any different on Citrix?

    You can certainly run GP on a Terminal Server without Excel but you will loose functionality for ANY Excel functions you want to use.  Excel must be installed on the Terminal server to utilize Excel functionality.  The "Remote App" feature allows a nice Icon on the users dektop to be clicked on to access GP, but still uses the Terminal Server backend for all functions.  Hope that helps.

    On a terminal server environment (accessed through RDP or Citrix), if an Excel feature is utilized, it will use the Excel/Office install on the server and not that of the client machine.  So some functionality will be lost in that scenario.  I have not run GP via the Remote App feature.
