Linking Released Products to Bill of Materials

ReportReport

Hi,

I would like to generate a report where all released products are linked to the Bill of Materials in which they are used. Example: Product A is used in BOM 1, 2 and 7. Product B is not used in a BOM etc. They goal is to identify products that are no longer used in active BOM's but are still on stock.

The option Product Information Management > Inquiries and Reports > Bill of Materials where used is leading to a report that is generating for hours but does not give any results. Perhaps my selected parameters are not correct?

Any other options to solve this challenge?

There are likely several explanations, but you MAY want to check your Parameters for BOM Circularity. If your parameters are set such that you are NOT automatically checking for circularity as you maintain BOMs/BOM lines, then this could explain the long run times. IF you aren't checking circularity automatically there is a Batch job that will check.

    Hy,
as you need a report "list items that are not used in BOM" but on stock, I would export the "BOMBillOfMaterialsLineV3Entity" and "InventorySiteOnHandV2Entity" to excel format.
Both tables linked with a little bit of Excel formula and you should find out Items on stock but not on any BOM.

    Herzliche Grüße / kind regards,

The 'operation elapsed time' runs over 3-4 hours and eventually it leads to a timeout error.

    Hi,

For me, the report shows up quickly, but that is with the Contoso Demo database which probably has way fewer products compared to your environment. What exactly do you mean by not give any results? Is the outcome empty or do you need more details? Or do you get e.g. a timeout error?
