We have done such a migration only once in a previous implementation. However, it required some inventory adjustments to align with the financials.
We created a logical warehouse and loaded the consumed RM into it. Then, we simulated all the production steps using X++ automation, which included:
Creating production orders based on an Excel sheet
Starting the production orders
Posting route journals
Posting picking slips
The challenge is that you may encounter multiple scenarios that need to be handled differently. For complex cases, we kept the production process in the existing (legacy) system to complete finished goods reporting there.
Only the raw materials that were consumed but not yet completed in the legacy system were migrated into the new system.
