Hello Group,
Could somebody share a wisdom why I can't make Category fields under Item Maintenence Options to be Required by using Modifyer? We are on GP 2013 R2.
Thank you,
Oleg.

Hello Oleg,
In the 'IV_Item_Additional_Info' window in Modifier, I tried to highlight the category fields, in the Properties window, under the 'Object' tab, for the 'Required' field, and set those to 'True' by double-clicking on them, but after saving changes and giving my user access to the modified window, it doesn't seem to require those fields are populated, is this what you're running into?
You may need to use VBA code to make it required or a customization through Dexterity, as it doesn't seem that you can make it required.
Thanks
Hi Oleg,
On that window, the OK button doesn't check the window to see if all of the required fields are populated. No matter which field you make required, it still doesn't work. If it were present, the Dex code would check the required fields on the window and then complain at you. Alternatively, and this was also not done, is that the save button on the Item Maintenance window could have checked the required fields for all windows in the entire form and then warned you if one had not been populated. So, fear not! There isn't anything wrong with your approach, or with Modifier. There just isn't any Dex code behind the button to check what you want.
I confirmed this theory by adding my own buttons to the windows and then tried it out. It caught that the fields were empty. There are several windows like this throughout the system. As was recommended earlier, you will most likely need a little VBA to the rescue. If you have access to a Dex programmer, great, but VBA is easier to 'tweak' so long as you don't need it to work with the Web Client.
Kind regards,
Leslie
