Calculated fields not working with related entities

Posted on by 110

Hi all,

I have created a couple of calculated fields on the contact entity. The purpose of these fields is to look at the parent company record and take a single value from a field.

However, the fields won't pull through. I understand that you cannot use the standard parent company field, so I created a custom lookup field/relationship.

I have double checked and can confirm that all of the relevant fields have values, but none of my fields have calculated.

What am I missing?

you have to create child entities to calculate fields with related entities, and then create a custom relationship of all the fields.

I managed to get the field working by wrapping the statement in brackets. Strangely, when i reopen the calculated field the brackets are gone, but the field continues to work.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, this instance is on-premise version 8.2.1.176.
