Uploading Contacts - Best Practice

Hi All,

I have about 300 reps in the field and we are going to have them start uploading their contact information into Dynamics CRM 2016 (on-prem) for the first time. Does anyone have any best practices for such a large group?

My initial thought is to create an upload template to try and minimize the clean up that my team will have to do, but I've got no illusions to the fact that their will be clean up.

Any stories, best practices, add-ons that will help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi,

You can make a file and upload using data management in Dynamics crm. For more details you can see this link

You can download template file as per given in this image

    Hi David Edwards,

The approach I would take is to import the contact information using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and KingswaySoft. Are you extracting the contact information from another system?

    HI David,

Main questions is what format are those contacts in right now?

If you have them in Excel, it might be easiest to use the Excel Template and use that for uploading the contacts.

If you have them in other formats, maybe create a staging database, and import them using SSIS or SCRIBE.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Adrian. We are not extracting from a different system. We're having the reps enter the information into the CRM from their contact in outlook or on their phone.

Thanks Aric. Right now the data is with the reps in either their outlook contacts or on their phones. Any ideas? I have a feeling my team is going to have a lot of data validation to do...
