Hi,
We upgraded from GP 9 to GP 2010.
All the users passwords were updated and also the check policy, expiration was checked.
We sent an email to all the users telling the updated passwords.
When users try to login in GP 2010 using the password we updated,
1. Some of the users experienced theis error:-
When they entered the password , they got prompt to change the password (expected behaviour)
BUT the change passwords tabs ( new password and confim password) are GREYED OUT.
2. Can only sa change the password of users in GP 2010??
Suppose there are 1000 users and if we want to change password or rest for all, how can we do
this task, Is there any way to do password change/reset from sql server 2005...
If not How to overcome this difficaulty?
Regards,
Sushant

You reset the DYNSA password by removing the password in SQL Server Management Studio and leaving it blank. Next time you log into GP as DYNSA you will be asked to set a new one.
Changing the DYNSA password will have no negative effects.
Any user can create GP users/change passwords if they have the correct SQL permissions.

We need 1 more user ( other than sa) to reset passwords/lockout in GP 2010 as
there are too many users complaining besides we need sa to do other stuff too..
Thatsy we need DYNSA

thanks Ian
1. worked.
I see somewhere on some post that DYNSA can also reset passwords.(by granting it dbcreator and sysadmin privileges on server roles properties in sql server)
Is that true?
We forgot DYNSA password and are thinking of resetting through sa in GP..
BUT Are there any built in procedures/functions in GP which would be changed/stopped working or give errors when we change DYNSA password.

Hi Sushant,
1. In the change password box, after entering the old password, hit the Tab key and the New Password field is enabled.
Enter the new password and hit tab and the Confirm Password field will be enabled.
2. sa or users with the correct permissions in SQL can change passwords. Passwords cannot be reset via SQL Server as GP encrypts the password and the server name in the password field which SQL itself does not do. I've changed passwords in bulk before using a template GP macro, a CSV and mail merge to produce a full macro of all users and their new passwords.
