Hello everybody,
since we've Setup server-side sync with Exchange OnPrem we have a huge amount of logons from the impersonation account to our Domain Controllers. Also we can see that IIS-Logs on the Exchange 2016 Servers are massively filling up. We were forced to change the log file generation from daily to hourly to be still able to open the IIS logs from the Exchange servers.
To give You an idea: there are about 100 IIS-Log entries per second only from Dynamics 365. A lot of 401 and 200 entries, I think coming from the challenge/Response login process. Before Setting up the SSS-Profile in Dyn 365 the average daily size of the IIS logs was 45 MB, after setting up the SSO-Profile the size jumped to 2-3 GB, which cannot be opened properly with normal text editors.
We have about 2.600 User in Dynamics 365.
We are using the same EWS Interface we are using for the Exchange Outlook Users. EWS is published via Citrix NetScalers.
Just a simple question: is this huge amount of logons normal?
Kind regards
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
I've never tested this myself, but I think this is probably normal. As Server-Side Sync cycles through the 2600 mailboxes, it's going to be constantly establishing new connections to each mailbox in turn, and making a burst of web requests each time.
If you're interested in the details, this document lays out how many EWS calls are made for each sync cycle for each mailbox (see pages 13 to 16): download.microsoft.com/.../serversidesyncwithDynamicsCRM.pdf
