You can only assign the organizational account to a user from within the web client.  It will be disabled when trying to assign within the desktop client.  Were you able to successfully register your server with Azure gpuaweb.contoso.com/.../tenant; Although in the documentation it tells you this step is for multi tenant it is always required.  FYI I have a scale out deployment with organizational accounts and it is not a simple setup.  Took me like six attempts to get everything working correctly behind our load balancer.  I would recommend however that for learning purposes I would avoid scale out until you have a single machine working with organizational accounts.  Once you have that working you can add additional servers.

    Thanks Beat for reply.

I did check from my IT, my production environment is on domain not in Workgroup.

Secondly, I also trying both in IE & Edge but no luck. When i click on https://servername/GP then i go throguh to below steps:

    GP Welcome Window:

    02.-Office365-Credentials.png

Then i supply my office login credentials:

    Then below screen appears.

    03.-Error-Message.png

Yes, It is not necessary to run Web Services, as I did one test installation using Windows account from 'manage user authentication' in GP utilities. It went fine and I can create new users with window domain ID's and lookup icon was also not grey out.

However, once I tried a new installation using Organizational account from 'manage user authentication' in GP utilities, lookup icon greyed out for new users as earlier message displayed.

It seems there might be a little miss link in my configuration.

    Please guide.

    Hi Irfan,

The 'Organizational Account' might be disabled (or greyed out) because the system on which you're running the full GP client is not identified as being part of a domain.. could it be that your computer is in Workgroup ?

I don't think that the user setup to link to a Windows account requires any Web services to be up & running, as I have access to this setting in my GP 2013R2, and do not have any web services setup.

PS: regarding your O365 login, which web browser are you using ? I've experienced similar error message recently when trying to connect to any Microsoft web site that requires a login with Firefox, but have no issues when using Edge or IE.

Atlast, I got answers to my queries after a long and tedious R&D.

Error message refer to 'The Value XXXXXXX must be a URI', where URI refers to any website address, it was entered an an value as shown in error message (Attached earlier). I also check that dbo.AzureApplication table from GPCONIFIGURATION database.

I have changed values of APPID URI and reconfigure Web Components and i go though to this message to welcome screen to GP login.

However, Once i provide my O365 credentials, i got below error.

Any thoughts on it? why i am getting this.

Moreover, in user setup window while creating a new user I also not able to use organizational accounts, as it is disabled (as per below image).

Any suggestions on this as well.

    Kind Regards.

RE: GP 2016 web Installation using Organizational Account

    Hi Mariano,

Today I have created a fresh environment for GP Web Client Scale Out Installation, as per below:

01 ERP Server:           GP & SQL Databases

01 Web Server:         WebSite, Session Central Service, GP Service

02 Session Servers:   Session Service, Dexterity Service Control, Client GP with WebClient Runtime

All process went smooth. I successfully verify Web Management Console, but when I tried to create a session. it prompts up a different error from Web Server. Error as below:

    Creating-a-Session-from-Session-Sever.png

Interestingly, when i try to create session from Session Server, I get another error as below:

    Creating-a-Session-from-Session-Sever.png

I dig into Events Viewer of Web Server, where below message appears:

    Web-Sever_2D00_-Events.png

    Please guide the missing link.

    Kind Regards.

Mariano, below are replies of your questions:

I have followed step by step manual of GP web client installation from Microsoft. After installation and configuring all services and components, when I check web management console on local Host machine. This message occurs.

Scale out deployment needed to test azure domain ad accounts to use GP as single sign on. As I read in this forum, azure ad account could not be configured with single machine deployment.

One erp server, one web server and one session server.

Can you describe the installation process you went through? Also, why did you choose a scale out deployment? How many session hosts or web servers will you be supporting?
