Advanced filtering for day range

Version:  AX 2012 Feature Pack

Hello AX Gurus,

I have a client where I recently set up automated picking list batch job that processes every 15 minutes.  In the query parameters we set the Ship date to use the (DayRange(0, 1)) filter.  This business generates picking lists daily for orders shipping today and tomorrow.  This works beautifully Monday through Thursday.  Once Friday hits that automatic batch does no good because it needs to look at (DayRange(0, 3)).  Currently they are having to change the batch job on Fridays to show 0,3 range and then change it back at the end of the day to 0,1 range for the next week.  Are there any other advanced filtering options I am overlooking that could be put in place?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

Regards,

Lynn Litzau

    Hi Lynn,

I don't believe there are any out of the box options for advanced filtering, but you could with minimal development add a method to SysQueryRangeUtil class to enable this. Create a method that reads the same parameters as above but reads off of the calendars in AX to determine a today, plus one working day range. This would then be able to handle holiday days too.

@Lynn: As Jonathan mentioned, there is no out of box option to do this. Best way would be to have a small customization to link this with working calendars and then control holidays from the working calendars themselves. (i.e Checkbox "closed for pickup")

    Hi,

Why would not you consider setting 2 different batch jobs as:

One to work on every monday for: (DayRange(0, 3))

One to work on Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday and Friday for:(DayRange(0, 1))

    Hello Fatih,

Unless I am missing something there is no day "and" time options in batch recurrence.  You can set for a specific number of minutes or set it to run once on a specific day but I see no options for setting a specific day for every 15 minutes throughout that day.  I think their option is to customize like Jonathan mentioned, which I was trying to avoid, or keep with what they are doing which is adjusting the batch job at the beginning of each day with today and tomorrow's date.  I will give them this option. Thanks all for your help and suggestions!
