Hi,
In older versions of BC such as v27 there was a sharepoint connector that had to be configured. Microsoft has documentation here on how to configure the sharepoint storage: Store document attachments in external file storage - Business Central | Microsoft Learn
You're going to have to switch to version 28 soon anyways, it's worth it to just upgrade first because we are almost in wave 2 of 2026 already.
If you want to setup the connect you can reference this section from the link above:
- SharePoint storage account: Enter an Account Name for Business Central, and then provide the Tenant ID, Client ID, and Client Secret of your Microsoft Entra ID app registration that can access to your SharePoint site. Specify the SharePoint Name, which is the domain or site name (for example, the SharePoint site collection or tenant name), and a Base Relative Folder Path where you want to store attachments. For example, the document library and folder path within the site.
And only attachments after this feature are enabled are added. The 50gb of existing attachments won't automatically be migrated.
One note in the microsoft documentation:
Only attachments people add after you enable this feature are kept in your external storage. To move existing attachments from your Business Central database to external storage, go to the File Scenarios or External Storage Setup pages and use the Storage Sync action. You can specify the direction you want to move files, and the operation to do so.
So you can try to migrate with the sync button if needed.
