Hello

Is anyone able to advise if there is any issue with using Item Variants and MRP.

We are implementing Business Central and have done a lot of the solution build however it has surfaced that we have a requirement to use variants and just wanted to gage how significant a change it is; setup and testing.  In particular in relation to MRP.

Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

Kind regards
Felicity

item variants will be planned as individual items. E.g. item xyz has variants, a, b, c
BC plans each item variants as individual item.

Hi, hope the following helps as well.
The Planning is calculated per Item per Location per Variant

    Thanks.

Yes, MRP will work fine with Variants.

You need to ensure you are using Stockkeeping Units.  While the replies below mention planning using Item-Location-Variant combination, they failed to mention that is a Stockkeeping Unit.  Once you have your Items, Variants, and Locations created, run the "Create Stockkeeping Unit" process to generate the combinations.

It is then helpful to use either a Config. Package or Edit in Excel to update your SKU records with your desired planning criteria for each combination.

Once you have these core setups ready the Planning Worksheet will run as normal to generate your suggested Replenishments.

As always, I highly recommend you run several tests in a Sandbox environment first before making these changes in your Production environment.

Your Business Central partner should be able to further clarify any questions you have on the Planning process within BC.

    Best Regards,
