Hi Everyone,

Can anyone assist me on a problem i encountered upon logging in using another computer other than my server.

Upon checking with the server, it seems that the IP address indicated in the computer is different from the server. Is this the reason why i can't connect? If yes, can you please tell me how can i resolve this?

Thank you.

RE: Trouble logging in with another computer

    Hello,

The shortcut to Microsoft Dynamics NAV may have a reference to a specific clientusersettings.config file (in the folder you shared with the community).

The one that the short cut does use should point to a the NST server that is reachable for the client.

    E.g.:

Domain: A.com (external) and A.local (internal) running on computer A with IP address 10.0.0.2.

The server name in clientusersettings.config file should point to A.local or it's IP address (10.0.0.2).

If connecting from outside, the clientusersettings.config file on the remote device should point to A.com or to the public reachable IP addresss. The router should then point to 10.0.0.2.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    [quote user="Marco Mels"]

    Hello,

In the ClientUserSettings.config file you can specify to which server the client computer should connect to.  This file can be find here:

    %userprofile%\appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\<<Release>>, etc

During setup of Dynamics NAV on the server, you do specify the server location. Typically this is localhost which is fine when you connect the client directly from the server itself. But that does not work of course from a remote computer.

So instead of localhost during setup, user the fully qualified domain or the server name that is accessible from client computer.

The user will get the clientusersettings.config file from the server where this is stored in %programdata% folder.

    Hope it does help.

    Thanks.

I found two ClientUserSettings.config file in the server. The first one is located at the Program data while the second one is located at another folder. Please see images below for your reference.

    First

    Second

And if i open it, may i confirm if the one highlighted in the file must be changed to the IP address of the server? Please advise.
