Corrupt Store Ops Database, last night's backup and exporting a store from HQ

Hi all,

Firstly i would have opened a support case direct, but here in the UK our phone lines are now closed and the ability to create a case online is not possible!!

This afternoon one of our store databases corrupted, (server restarted for no reason that errorlogs or other logs can explain).

The store had synced to HQ about 30 minutes before this incident, so HQ contains a lot more sales information than the store backup from the night before does.

My concern is: if i restore a store database from HQ, using export store etc, and use 'last night's backup' as the store template, are there any tables (excepting those additional tables used in addins etc) that i need to independantly re-build/copy etc.

We don't sync the journals back to HQ, is it possible to copy them either direct into the HQ database, or back to the store (journals from the last night backup)

- or does the export store data from HQ leave the Journal table data intact?

I'm ready to have all users briefed that their passwords will have changed and that they will be prompted to do so, but if there are any other pointers or KB articles that might be useful could someone point me to them.

I'm waiting on a 3 hour transfer time for the store backup to move to the HQ server, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys, planning on hourly backups at all stores where hardware will allow in the future now!

    UPDATE:

Sofar the only missing information we have required is the macros setup on the POS, have had to reinput them by hand.. - otherwise the process, although very confusing in the number of very similar screens and confirmations was very well done..

I'll try to work out how to move the journals once everything is calm, then do a proper compare to see the differences between the backup db and the restored on.

I believe that the scenario you suggested is perfect, and I assume that you will be having no missing data except for the journals, that you can transfer later easily from the backup you have using SQL query, cause as you mentioned, you are not syncing  the journal table with HQ so the HQ doesn't have any journals to export
