Alternative for GetRelatedEntities in Dynamics 365

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi CRM Experts,

Microsoft.XRM.Client has been stopped shipping with CRM 2016 Onward.

We have a legacy tool (Desktop Application) that uses the above said DLL and it majorly uses one of its method GetRelatedEntities.

Can anybody tell me an alternative for the GetRelatedEntities or how to get the Microsoft.XRM.Client for Dynamics 365.

Note:

We tried using the old Microsoft.XRM.Client (7.0.0.0) with the latest other DLLs (8.0.0.0), but after creating the setup and while installation of the tool it gives DLL dependency error (since, the other DLLs are of version 8.0.0.0), so, we don`t have an option of using that method.

Thanks in advance for help!

Thanks,

Yasir

Just use a retrieve multiple with the parent record id as a conditional filter.
    msdn.microsoft.com/.../microsoft.xrm.sdk.iorganizationservice.retrievemultiple.aspx

If you're looking for a way to retrieve a record with related records then you can execute a retrieve-request and specify the related records you want in the RelatedEntitiesQuery
    msdn.microsoft.com/.../microsoft.xrm.sdk.messages.retrieverequest.aspx
