Hello All,

We have a plugin which creates marketing lists in campaign by taking into the existing marketing lists of campaign.

The plugin is giving a timeout 2 minutes error.

I have gone through several questions in the forum and they suggest to use Custom Workflow.

Is there any way to increase the execution time limit of a plugin?

The marketing list contains 10,000+ contacts and i have to traverse through the list to create 6 different marketing lists. As plugin is throwing timeout error, can i use a custom workflow?

Hi,

If you are working for CRM on premise you can increase this limit, but if you are using online deployment, you don't have any choice other then redesigning your plugin with code should execute within 2 min time frame. Also you need to understand this limit is maily for the logic registered on sandbox mode, so even you are using online and will try to use custom workflow it should throw timeout as well.

Hi All,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am using CRM on-Premise, the logic has to create 6 new marketing lists from a marketing lists which has 10,000+ contacts.

Can i use a custom workflow to fulfill this logic? are there any limitations for this?

Please suggest me.

The ideas presented include moving the work to an external app or tool (e.g., Scribe) or divide/limit the work that a plug-in instance needs to do to avoid the time out.

My understanding is that a workflow activity must also complete within two minutes or so, but I'll defer to others on this to confirm.

Hi,

If you will use custom workflow and it is not registered on sandbox mode- you should not get time limit issue, and you can increase it in case on premise as well.

In case of you are using classes to build the query i would rather suggest you to run the inline queries and directly hit that to the database.

May be it will work for you.
