Duplicate detection rule not working correctly for leads.

When entering a lead with the same name, an error is thrown for the alternate key, instead of displaying the "ignore/save" and "merge" dialog box.

I know it has to do with the alternate key on the Lead entity. I believe microsoft ships out dynamics with this created for the system. I tried to remove it from my solution, but since it is managed I can't change it. Therefore, I removed it from my development environment (unmanaged) exported and imported as managed in my production environment, but it did not remove this alternate key. My users have a business need that should allow multiple Leads with the same name and this is prohibiting that. Any suggestions?

    HI,

Try to deactivate this key instead of removing.

You can't deactivate the key in a managed environment.

I take that back, I did deactivate the key, but as you can see it still says that it's active.

The way alternative key works is similar to the way unique identifier(Guid) works. You can't have same alternative key value in two different records. Firstly, you need to deactivate it's alternative key property. Then create a Duplicate Detection rule for that field so you can have Ignore/Save dialog.
