Hallo

I have setup groups I AD to use in Axapta 2012, and that work great with the new user I add, but how can I get it to work on user there already have been logged in and already have personal there ax.

Before I know about using AD groups I have manual imported this user from AD to ax and then apply the roles to them, but it is much easier the other way around, can some of you help me.

    Hi

    I suggest you :

1- Make a backup by SQL of the SysLastValue table.

    2- Delete the AX users

3- Login in AX with the news users. In this case AX will create the new User with $xxxx

4- Delete the records from the SyslastValue table related the new $xxxx users

5- Restore the records from the original Syslastvalue table that you have saved at point 1 related the new users

    Hope this help you.

I wouldn't delete existing users - their IDs are saved at many places in AX (e.g. CreatedBy) fields and you would either lose a lot of information or you would have to spend a lot of effort updating the references.

I would first test what happens if you simply add the group and let the user to log in. You may already get something useful from this attempt. Then I would try to identify how AX maps user groups and individual users and I would try to create this link for existing users. It may or may not be possible, depending on how it actually works.

    Hi

    Martin is right.

But just after the user creation, you can rename the userid using the standard functionality.

    Martin

it wouldn't  work if you just apply the user to the group, i have try that.

I will try what Dennis says, if that would't work i will try and figure out how it work, if not any others have some

    proposal..

    Hi Rudra

    Normally yes.

But here the requirement is use the AD Group feature.

Using this feature, the Userid is something like $XXXX that is different respect the Userid assign with the import feature.

@PStorm: It was worth trying, although I didn't expect it to work. That's why there are other steps.

@Denis: The question is - won't renaming break the link between the AD group and the user? We can't say before analyzing how it works or trying it.

    Hi Guys,

I have investigated further on this scenario.

You can enable the AD group also after AX users manual creation.

AX will use a Roles combination btw User and AD Group.

If you want use only the AD Group Roles, you can delete all Roles related the AX user.

So, isn't necessary delete no users.
