[Company Login] not being displayed at launch even when 'Remember company' is unticked

Just today, the [Company Login] window stopped being displayed when I launched GP. Yesterday it was being displayed, today it is not. After GP has started, I click 'Company' label in the bottom left-hand corner to bring up the window. The window displays okay but regardless of whether the 'Remember Company' option is selected or not, the window is not displayed when GP is launched.

This problem occurs for all users including 'sa'.

Diving a little deeper, I start playing with data in the SY01402 but still no luck.

Any ideas?

So I decided to add another company to see if this fixes the problem. Low 'n behold, after configuring a new company, the [Company Login] window starts showing up at launch time again. Go figure !! This was not a re-stored server or orphaned database problem so I guess I will never know what caused the issue.

Was this happening on other computers? Do you have full control of the C:\Program Files (x86\Microsoft Dynamics\GP 2013 folder? How about having access to all companies in GP? Sounds like it was a permission problem with the DEX.INI file.

As far I could tell, it was not a permission issue. I was logged into windows as an Administrator, I logged into GP as 'sa'. I copied the DEX.INI from another unrelated GP server that did not have the issue. And still the problem occurred until I created a new company.

Hi all,

I just observed this same behavior today with a client running GP 2013 R2.

We unchecked the Remember this company option, logged into a company, then closed GP, but every time we launch GP, the company selection window is bypassed, even though the box is now unchecked.

We verified that the GP user did not have the Remember record (type=70) in the SY01402 table, so that seemed accurate, but no matter what we tried, the GP client would always bypass the company selection window.

I reviewed the Dex.ini, but we don't see anything that relates to the Remember this company option in the file. It is as if the GP client is not properly querying the SY01402 table.

Has anyone else seen this?

Many thanks to Twitter Grant in Fargo (https://twitter.com/TheBigGinF) for providing the solution to this issue.

It seems that if the GP user only has access to one company database, GP will bypass the company selection window, ignoring the "Remember this company" option being unchecked. If you grant access to more than one company, GP will display the company selection window.

So if you have this issue, give the user access to one more company.

Mystery solved.
