Views resetting their filter when using Search bar?

We have established a couple Views: New Trucks, Used Trucks. As you can imagine, the views are Trucks that have Truck Status set to New, or Used, respectively.

This is great, we click the view and it filters all trucks by the status. The problem is, if you type something into the search bar at the top of the view, it searches ALL trucks, not just those present in the View. Is there some way to make the search "additive" to the View's filter, instead of replacing it?

We're finding this same issue in our list of Accounts. We have Views set up like Brent's Accounts, Dave's Accounts, Steve's Accounts. These are of course Views with Owner set to either Brent, Dave or Steve, respectively. This gives us a nice separation of our accounts but again if you use the search bar at the top, it searches ALL accounts, not just Brent's, Dave's or Steve's.

Maybe we're using Views incorrectly? Is there some other way we should be achieving the desired outcome?

Thank you for your help!!

The search bar uses a special view for the entity - example Quick Find Active Accounts. You will see this in the list of views for the given entity. That view can have it's own filters applied to it - which means it doesn't inherit fro the currently active view.

One way to achieve the scenario you are looking for is to select your view, and then do an Advanced Find - this will inherit the filter criteria from the current view and allow you to add the additional criteria that you would be searching for. Not quite as quick but it will achieve the same result.

ah so that's it eh, it's just using the Quick Find view... So that's pretty much expected behavior?

Thank you for your reply Jason! I was thinking we'd be stuck doing Advanced Find or use the Add Filter button to the right of the Search bar.

ok this is very weird. I understand what's going on here with the Quick Find.... but I'm finding that one user with Outlook 2007 is actually having it search within the contents of the view, not all items.

We've tried restarting his Outlook and it still only searches within the view. That's exactly how we WANT it to work, but it seems like it's not for anyone, except him.
