Outlook 2013 email tracking to CRM 4.0 error

Hi,

since upgradign to Outlook 2013 I can no longer track emails whilst in the 'create message' window. When I try to send the email it says

'E-mail cannot be sent because the specified sender does not have an e-mail address. Add an e-mail address to the sender and then try again. do you want to send the e-mail? If you click yes, the e-mail will be sent out, but no corresponding activity will be created in Microsoft Dynamics CRM'

I have checked my user profile in CRM and this has my primary email filled in correctly. can we resolve this or am I doomed to forever have to track emails after sending them?

thanks,

Jennifer

On your user record, can you (or an administrator) select "Approve E-Mail" from the top ribbon?

Then do you still get the same message?

Hi Jason, thanks for your suggestion. No, we're still on CRM 4.0 so we do not have that option.

Along the top there are buttons for; Save, print, Send Direct Email, and the actions dropdown which contains Disable, reassign records, copy shortcut, send shortcut, manage roles, join teams, change Business unit, Change manager.

I'm hoping that 'upgrade to 2011' isn't the only fix!

You can always use ContactMonkey to track your Outlook emails! Check us out at www.contactmonkey.com. You can ping me directly at scott@contactmonkey.com.

    Happy tracking!

    Hi,

You must upgrade your CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011 with Update Rollup 11 for full functionality. Office 2013 is not supported with CRM 4.0.

    Thank you.

    HI there,

we have the same issue but with Windows 8, office 2013 and IE 10 on a workstation. Strangely enough we have a windows 7, with IE 9 and office 2013 and email tracking is working in crm 4.0. So is this an IE realted issue ???

Same problem as well at our company. Windows 8, office 2013, IE 10.

    A little update.

We have now upgraded (hooray!) and this has fixed the issue, but my workaround in the meantime was to change the 'from' field when sending an email back to myself. for some reason this allowed it to track the email when whichever profile it selected on opening an email before did not have an address associated with it.

    Summary;

open a new email, change sender to yourself again, this should now track. Hope this helps if you're having the same issue!

or track it once you've sent,

    or downgrade to Office 2010.
