I have a customer who has an instance online of Dynamics 365 using the Customer Engagement Plan. They wish to move to Sales Pro. Can you switch the licence over without affecting the instance? I think I read somewhere you can't mix licence types on an environment of D365.
Regards,
Peter.
Hi Peter,
You need to identify what is the scope of CRM they are using now (Sales, CS, Marketing etc). With change in license your access will be lower to only Sales App.
Then, Contact Microsoft Sales to provide you best guidance.
Thanks
I get that but I would rather have an answer to the question please. I suspect the MS sales team won’t guide me on the technical aspect which is the real issue here. Thanks for replying anyway.
Hello Peter,
Customers can't mix Enterprise and Professional users on the same instance. They also need to have in consideration that when deleted the enterprise solution, the Sales Enterprise app module is deleted and any configuration and customization specific to this app module such as its site map or form preferences are also lost. Please check the below documentation for further information.

I hope it helps :)
thank you
Teresa
Thank you so much Teresa - that was really helpful. Just for clarity. When you say customizations specific to the app - do you mean custom attributes and entities? Can I presume that data remains intact?
I have almost the same question on the same day Peter. After reading the doc mentioned by Teresa above I am still concerned about what we will lose during the upgrade (Sales Professional to Sales Enterprise in our case).
Particularly, are data and custom entities, fields, forms, views lost? What about workflows and business process rules?
Are these customisations not in the app module?
This is not meant to hijack your thread.
I see what you mean and that is my concern too. However if you thinK about it - deleting an app shouldn’t delete the elements outside of the app such as data and schema etc. Might be a case of running the process against a sandbox without canceling the enterprise licence.
I think the best approach here is to do a full copy into a new environment and test the behavior as I'm not 100% sure if you don't loose any data. thank you
That’s my thinking too. Thanks.
Were you able to test this? Does Customer Engagement -> sales pro work? are there any potential issues with that license conversion if the client is only using sales?
