We have a customer that requires invoices in USD although our company in AX 2012 R is set up in CAD. Can we set up a project in USD and then invoice Fixed Price in USD and AX converts it into CAD for revenue recognition?

    Hi Ian,

When you mention "requires invoices in USD" you mean that you want the invoice report in USD? If you do, you can select the currency on report when show on screen. Go to Tools/Select currency/ and select the currency that you want.

About set up a project in USD, you should work with exchange rates.

    Hello Ian,

The currency used for invoicing is specified at the project contract level.

You can thus setup USD as the invoicing currency for your project and create the invoice documents in USD.

AX will of course translate that amount into your company currency (CAD) that you can identify in the voucher.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I think, the following is the easiest and the correct way for you, considering the Exchange rate depends on the Date, and it has to be the invoice Date.

The fields AmountMST, AmountCur, and CurrencyCode are automatically set based on the exchange rate on the Invoice date, without a single additional line of code.

You can just use the AmountCur and CurrencyCode fields in the Invoice report.

    Hi Ludwig,

Is this possible in AX R2 2012 as I have read in many places that R2 does not allow you to set up project contracts in USD. Do you have to have it specially configured?

    Hi,

You can setup the sales currency at the project contract level.
