Credit notes in D365 in the Project Management and Accounting module in Dynamics 365

We are experiencing an issue with the credit note functionality in the Project Management and Accounting module in Dynamics 365.

Our client is entering projects without linking them to sales or purchase orders. When attempting to issue a credit note:

  • The system only allows full crediting (to zero).
  • It is not possible to adjust the amount to be credited manually, client is always using quantity 1
  • Only the tax base can be modified, but not the actual line amount.
  • There is no flexibility to perform partial corrections on invoice lines.
  • This limitation is causing significant challenges in handling real-world correction scenarios, especially when only part of the invoice needs to be adjusted.

Could you please advise:

Whether this is expected system behavior?
If there is any workaround or configuration that would allow more flexible credit note handling in this context?
Whether this functionality is planned to be improved in future releases?

    Hi,

You mentioned that your client did not link projects to sales or purchase orders. What transactions were posted and what (part) of the amount should be credited?

If I am not sure Partial crediting on project invoices or Editing line amounts/quantities in project credit notes is not allowed in standard functionality. Please double check as latest version might.

    Thanks
    Ramesh
