Setting up Development Environment

Greetings all,

I am setting up a development environment to customize our Dynamics 365 FO (Preview) implementation and need some guidance.

This is the deployment version:

Finance and Operations Preview
Installed product version : 10.0.44 (10.0.2263.20)
Installed platform version : Update68 (7.0.7606.38)

The development environment is
  • Windows 11, using Visual Studio 2022. I have the Power Platform extensions installed.

I have the following questions:
  • Is my environment correct and does this version support development?
  • How can I access the AOT to customize the forms and create custom batch jobs?
  • Where is the documentation and related resources?

Documentation exists, but what you need to look at depends on what you're doing. You're probably trying to create an UDE, therefore the relevant documentation is under Unified developer experience for finance and operations apps.

Greetings Martin, thanks for sharing the resources.

I have created my Power Platform environment from the GUI and not CLI and now getting this error from FinOps Cloud Runtime:
DownloadAssets - Early Exit as https://myserveraddres.dynamics.com/XRMServices/2011/Organization.svc/web?SDKClientVersion=9.2.49.14828] is not a Unified Dev environment.
I just wanted to know what the best practices and the deployment environment settings to be able to setup a development environment for D365 FO.

    Hi ,

I believe that you are trying to create a UDE F&O Instance from PPAC.

You need to select Enable Developer Tools for Finance and Operations when installing the D365 Finance and Operations Provisioning App for the Environment.

When you creating the Environment do not deploy the Finance (Preview) Application. Install app later to be able to select the option.

    Regards,

Please follow the step-by-step installation guide from Microsoft.  In particular, a specific version of F&O needs to be installed using the provisioning app settings.

Screenshot of the installation configuration page for the provisioning app.
    Thank you.
