Need help with reconciling HIRE Act exempt wages when employees are re-hired (i.e. - qualified the first time, but not on re-hire, or vice-versa. Anyone dealing with that issue?
It appears the flag is just on or off and picks up wages for the entire year.
Employee A is qualified & hired March 15th - works two months, quits for a month & comes back to work. The first two months' wages qualify, but the wages paid after the re-hire do not qualify. If the flag is set to No, none of the wages will be on the W-2, if it's set to Yes, then all the wages are considered exempt.
We have 1,200 employees - somewhere around 130-150 have qualified at some time or another during the year. Do I have to track re-hire wages manually???

I have the same question (0)We're also dealing with the same issue. Our service rep has contacted GP but evidently they're so bogged down with the social sec 4.2 rate that began 1/1/11 they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater on the HIRE act when it comes to multiple hires of the same individuals in 2010. Our rep has helped us pull some things out of Dynamics into Excel that we think will make it easier to manually calculate, but out of 450 emp we will have 150+ to manually calculate. Are you aware that GP only calculates 4.2 on employee & employer and you'll also have to calculate your 941 pmnt with the addl employer amt. They are suppose to be fixing that in mid to late Jan, but your payments will have to be recalculated until then.
