Hello everyone,

I had a question regarding Inventory Date control. If suppose I have purchased goods on the 29th of May 2018 for 500kg of materials, the system should not be able to allow me to utilize the said goods before the 29th of May 2018 from my inventory. But in this case, the system does not prompt me or stop me from issuing goods from the inventory for suppose for the month of April. Even though I have made a purchase order for the materials on the 29th of May, by allowing me to issue materials from my inventory in April, without prompting me or stopping me, I end up with a negative Physical inventory when I do Inventory closing.
please tell me what parameter to utilize to stop Dynamics from allowing me to issue materials that have still not been received in Inventory.

Thank you

    Hi,

You need to check your item model stock group setup for your item.

How it is setup if you can post a screenshot ?

Check : negative quantity , Physical update checkbox .

    Hi Zoheib,

Please ensure those Item's  Item model group settings are as mentioned below:

    Post Physical inventory: Checked

    Post financial inventory: Checked

    Physical negative inventory:Unchecked

    Financial negative inventory:Unchecked

    Thanks,

    Ganesh

Dear Rolland, thank you for your swift response.

I have added a screenshot of my Item model stock setup and a screenshot of the Inventory, one Item transactions, in which you can see that I made the purchase order on the 29th of May, but for some reason the ERP allows me to issue Inventory that I do not have in stock and before the 29th of May. I wish to stop that, or have the system prompt me whenever that happens.

It should only be able to issue inventory for consumption only after 29th of May or after I have received the physical Inventory at hand.

Thank you so much in this regard

    Thanks

1/ Are you sure you have no on-hand available on those dimensions (site/warehouse/batch number...) on the 29th ?

Because you are not allowing negative stock here. What is weired here is the issue transaction on the 28th .

2/ Can you still check the reserved order items just in case ? (in stock management  > main setup > general) It should be unchecked.

3/ what happens if you create a brand new item and run again that test A/ try to process a SO B/ receive a PO ??

    Dear Rolland,

Thank you for your reply once again. I have added two more screenshots to show you that I have reserved order items in stock management unchecked, and also I do not have any on-hand available inventory before this date, 05/29/2018, since to test out this logic, I created a new item and processed a purchase order for it on the 05/29/2018.

My question once again stands at, how is it that the system is allowing me to issue and consume this new inventory item that i have received on the 05/29/2018, and for which i have no inventory on hand before the 29th, but yet I am able to issue/consume it out of my inventory in April and March. How will I be able to limit this parameter within the system.

Because, how am i able to issue/consume goods, which I have not received yet, and for which I have no on-hand inventory available?

    Kind Regards

Sorry I cannot see the last screenshots :

    - reserved ordered item checkbox ?

    - brand new item ?

Can you double check your screenshots ?

Anyway, if the PO is full received on the 29th, you can consume/issue stock as you pleased. if not, according to your setup, it's impossible. You cannot issue with a SO before the 29th if you have no stock before that.

Try to create a new item, and to issue it without any stock or purchase order to see if Ax allows you to do that.

I think there is probably a customization behind  this. Is it possible for you to check that point ?

From my experience, this is just how it works. AX does not check whether you went negative in the past. It only checks if posting the back-dated transaction will cause you to go negative now.

    Hi Guy,

What I meant is without negative inventory allowed you cannot issue anything if you have no stock.

But you can do the following as long as you have anything on stock (meaning run the PO product receipt) :

    - create a SO on a D day, receiving the PO on a D+5 day, then run the issue on the SO and force the D day.

This requires some development, because your Definition of "OnHand" is different from how Standard AX's.

In the Standard Version, you can issue an item when it is purchased (even before receipt).

So, you have to develop something on top, to allow Issue Trans (invent and financial) only for "AvailPhysical" (Make sure, "OnOrder" is not considered) This is easier said, but might require some extensive testing, as it is a very generic function.
