ReportReport
Posted on by 7,316

I have 2 different reports that I am trying to pull data locally(I mean in BIDS).

I am not seeing any data coming in. So I ran both the queries in sql server and they were executing successfully with 0 rows affected.

I learned that CRM security role determines what data you can view in the report. Is that correct?

If so, do I need to check my permission levels to view the data in the report? Is that the reason I am not seeing the data?

The filtered view takes into account the permissions of the account running the query so it only returns the records that users has access to. Could it be that the user you are running the query under is not a CRM user? This would result in 0 records returned against a filter view. If you run the same query against a non-filtered and get results - security is likely the problem.

It is a CRM user indeed and yes I am seeing the data when I run the same query against a non-filtered.

Also I checked my user privileges and I do have Read-Write permissions.

What are the permission levels do I need to have in addition to these to view the data in a report? Where can I check them?

    Thanks

Can you see the result when you build Advanced find with same query? If you are able to see result in advanced find with same filter then you should be able to run same query in the report and see results.

    Hi,

If you are trying to pull the data locally, you mean BIDS, it means that you install the BIDS in the CRM Server.

Then, you can try to run the query, have you used the Windows Authentication?

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    I tried windows authentication too..

I am seeing login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with windows authentication.

    Thanks

Of course you will have returned 0 data. The filteredview is only working for CRM User which is AD which is Windows Authentication.

If you use the SQL authentication you should not use the Filteredview and vice versa if you use filteredview you should not use sql authentication.

If you create the report without windows authentication you can use sql authentication but it will break the data security since you will use sa and you will not use the crm authentication.

You should create the BIDS using windows authentication or you can use the sql query first without filtered view but when you deploy and upload the rdl to crm you should revamp your code to filteredview instead using view or table.

    Hope this helps, thanks!
