    Thanks BalajiM. Your proposed solutions worked for me.   SQL Server Management Studio (v18.8) 15.0.18369.0. Microsoft .NET Framework >>> 4.0.30319.42000 ;

    Operating System >>> 10.0.17763.

    The issue was resolved after pasting a text document with same name in the file path.

    Steps followed:

    1. Created a new text file with name 'extensions.configurationchanged'

    2. Created a new folder called Extensions in the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 18'

    2. Pasted the document in the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 18\Extensions'

    4. Logged in to SQL again.

    Update SSMS to the latest version, that will fix the inconsistences on the dlls

    To solve this error, I closed SQL Server Management Studio and just re-opened it. Cheers

    Just so everyone knows, SSMS started working fine again for me once I upgraded it to v18.10 version 15.0.18390.0. No error anymore.

    Unfortunately no. I completed my development work and deallocated the environment.

    I am getting this same error. Did you find a solution to this?

    Unfortunately, I haven't seen this error myself before. So, I'm not sure how this can be solved. Did you find a solution yourself already?

    The reason I'm trying to turn on change tracking is because every time I deploy report the WWW service shuts down. I have manually start and then connect the the Client.

    Hello Andre,

    The only thing I have done here related to Database is restored the UAT database through powershell and updating from Version 22.51 to Version 22.106. In the event viewer I'm getting the error to enable the change management. Earlier I didn't notice, but now when I was trying to turn on the change management I'm unable to open the query window. The error pops up only when opening a query window.

    This is a new Dev VM with frequent changes being made to only couple of objects (Copy of FTI report mostly). Rest everything is same.
