Export to Excel not working

Hi,

One of our users reported an issue that he cannot extract opportunity records to an Excel file on an specific view. When you click export, loading window comes up for at least 5-10 mins then disappears with no Excel file extracted.

I tried it myself and I encounter the same issue. Before, we do not have this kind of issue, we were able to extract at least the first 100,000 opportunity records in CRM.

I already looked if there are same exact column names on the view, I found none. Also tried looking for a field that might contain a bad data (a previous optionset value is there but was now removed, causing a 'ghost' value on that field), also found nothing.

Can you please advise what could be our next step or what should we look on more?

PS. we are on Dynamics 365 v8.2 on-premise

All help is appreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Regards,

Gracia

    Hi GraciaSantos,

As per the link, you can export 100,000. It seems numbers are not responsible for the issue.

    Did you try other browsers?

Did you check the number of records from excel? It might be more than 100,000.

    Hi Abdul Wahab

I tried other browsers and I got same results. And yes, they exceed 100,000 records but before, we can export the first 100,000 records (as how it is working in CRM) without any issues.

The issue exists on a specific view only (with no filter criteria and has 163 columns).

Any other things that we can check? Thank you!

    Regards,

    Gracia

    Hi GraciaSantos,

Might be the issue is similar to this community thread:  https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/microsoft-dynamics-crm-forum/267485/error-when-exporting-only-1500-records-to-excel-from-dynamics-365-customer-engagement-is-there-a-limit-or-something .

Otherwise, The issue might be due to the size of the export.

You can check this tool also. For more details: learn.microsoft.com/.../export-excel-static-worksheet

RE: Export to Excel not working

    Hi,

The total data size can cause the issue mentioned above. The export size depends on the number of records as well as on the number of fields that are included in the view which is being exported.

Kindly reduce the number of columns that are not required and try exporting again.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

RE: Export to Excel not working

    Hi Inogic,

Would you know what is the maximum file size for exporting data to Excel? Or the maximum number of columns that can be added on a view? Asking as I cannot find any information about it.

The view we are using to extract the data from has a total of 168 columns, but we only encountered this issue recently. We already tried to remove columns and we were able to export the data, but I don't think it will be a good solution as the view is being used even before.

I'd like to add that we are not getting any error messages after the loading popup, it just disappears on the screen, that's why it is hard for us to investigate this issue.

    Thanks for the response!

    Regards,

    Gracia
