Issue with Exporting Customized Columns from Cash Receipt Journal in Business Central

Hello,

I am currently using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and need assistance with exporting data from the Cash Receipt Journal for editing in Excel. We are encountering an issue where, when using the "Edit in Excel" option, all columns are being included in the exported Excel document, even though we've customized and hidden some columns in BC before exporting.

Is there a way to ensure that only the customized columns we've selected in Business Central are exported to Excel, with no additional columns included? We would like to export only the visible, customized columns and the corresponding rows, not any extra ones.

Thank you for your help.

The "Edit in Excel" feature in Business Central always exports all fields that are available in the page’s underlying data source, even if you have hidden some columns in the UI. Unfortunately, customizing the visible columns on the page does not impact what gets exported.

    Hi,

Edit in Excel always exports all the fields from any table where the Excel feature is used, as it exports all available fields by default. While it may not be the best approach to customize this, I haven't found any existing solution that limits the fields for the Edit in Excel feature. If limiting the fields is crucial, you might consider building a custom export solution or using a data management tool that provides more control over the data being exported.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

    Hello,

To ensure that only the customized columns you've selected in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are exported to Excel, you need to adjust the columns in your current view before using the "Edit in Excel" option. This involves customizing the view to display only the columns you want to export. Once the view is set, the export will include only those visible columns and corresponding rows, excluding any hidden or additional columns.

Hi, Can't you just remove the field from Excel->Desgin?

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Customizing and hiding columns in BC before exporting doesn't affect edit in excel. There's no setting for this, or any way to change it. However, you can hide the columns in the excel file itself.
