ROI errors

ReportReport

We just upgraded from SL 6.5 to SL 2011, and I am getting errors/messages in the ROI that I cannot explain.  The report is 08610 - AR Aging.  I moved our custom versions of the reports out of user reports - thinking maybe a custom version was the issue.  So we now be using only standard reports.  I deleted all the templates that came over in the upgrade to start fresh.  I made a new template that only does one thing - Selects the report version - Detail by Days Outstanding.  Now when I open the ROI, if I don't load the template, I can move freely between tabs (report, sort, select) without any errors.  And the report runs fine.

If I load my Template and go straight the select tab, everything is fine.  Nothing on the Select tab, but no messages.  BUT if I go to Sort Tab first AND MAKE NO CHANGES then go to Report or Select tab, I get this message box.  Top says Report Option Interpreter.  Then 'Do you want to apply your Sort Tab Criteria Modifications?(1) - Y/N'  I made no sort tab modifications.  This is all standard.

The report will run, but what does the message mean?

I set up a template for one customer ID.  It has Select criteria - vr_08610dp.custid = XXX.  I seem to be able to move freely between tabs with this template loaded - no errors.  As long as I have the standard reports in place.

If I put my custom reports back in user reports, the Days Outstanding Template behave the same way as it did with standard reports - if I go to sort then select, I get the question about applying my sort tab criteria modifications.

When I load my One Customer Template, I immediately get a new message box.  Header says ROI.  Message says "Error in populating the array of fields.  Possibly a syntax error in the ROISelect Formula.

The template works fine; we just have to click ok to that message.  I'm not sure what that message means either.  That select criteria should be fine.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Hi Carolyn,

Is there a workaround or hotfix for the minor bug?

    Carolyn,

Thanks for your help.  I advised the user to just run the Detail by Days Outstanding without a template; she doesn't really need one any way.

Renaming the ROISelect formula resolved the other issue but created a new issue - the 08610DP standard version includes a group by statement cycle ID; my custom report does not.  Somehow I get Totaling by Statement Cycle ID on the Sort tab when I load the template.  That part doesn't make sense.  This is a totally new template created in SL2011, so I'm not sure where it got that totaling.  But I removed that line from the sort tab and re-saved my template, and now the template runs fine with no errors or messages.

So I think everything should be fine now.  Thanks again for your help.

    Hello Sherry,

I see what you are reporting.  It seems like a minor bug.  When selecting the Detail by Days Outstanding from the Report tab, the sort order is modified and the Apply and Reset buttons are grayed out.  However, when loading the template which selects the Detail by Days Outstanding format, the Apply and Reset buttons are enabled so it seems like the system doesn't apply the changes to the sort order when using a template to change the report format.  I can report this as a bug.  So either just select the Detail by Days Outstanding from the Report tab without using a template or if you use the template, you will need to go to the Sort tab and Apply the changes.

As to the Error in populating the array of fields:  The error is indicating that there is a problem with the ROISelect formula.  Let's rename that formula to see if the report will function correctly.  Most likely you do not need that formula.

Open the report in Crystal Reports.  On the right hand side, in the Field Explorer, expand the Formula Fields item.  Find the ROISELECT formula and rename it.  Then try the custom format again.  Let me know if that resolves the issue.

    Thanks.

In fact, with the custom reports in place, I get the 'Error in populating the array of fields' message when I just click F3 in the Field field in the Select tab.  I don't even have to load a template.
