Hi,
I have updated some contents in sitemap and tried to deploy it on production. But getting the following error:
A custom site map could not be used because it is incorrectly configured. Instead, it is used in the defSitemap ault site map. To resolve this issue, correct the custom site map and take it again.
Can anyone point me to the solution.
Thank you,

I had the same problem, i used Scott Durow (MVP) XrmToolBox SiteMap Editor and found out that there was a duplicate language (Title) record for an Enitity. This wasn´t shown in the default SiteMap editor, but visible in the XrmToolBox SiteMap Editor.
Great tool!

Hi Scott,
I also got this error , but within 15-30 minutes it got resolved automatically . I am assuming this is a bug in dynamics 365 product, otherwise how it would work without any modification in the site map.
Thanks,
Abhishek
Hi Prashanth,

Can you help me in resolving the issue, because it throws the same error every time i update and load it, but everything is been in production and all entities are in use
Site Map Error
The customized site map could not be used because it is configured incorrectly. The default site map has been applied instead.
To resolve this issue, repair the customized site map and import it again
For others that read this, here is another solution. This happened to me and I was able to fix this issue in less than an hour. Below, are the steps I took if you want to proceed in another way towards a solution:
1. Downloaded XRM Toolkit
2. Loaded the environment by creating a new connection
3. Clicked Site Map Editor
4. Loaded Site Map for that environment
5. Clicked the More Actions button and selected Reset 2015 Update 1 Sitemap to Default
(Whichever option you select will depend on your environment version)
6. Clicked the Update Sitemap button.
7. Refresh your CRM environment a few times and you should no longer receive that error
I found this article extremely helpful: http://us.hitachi-solutions.com/2014/08/20/crm-2013-how-to-change-the-tiles-on-the-menu-sitemap/ . GOOD LUCK!
Hi Sandeep, I have already seen this site. Thank you for that... eventually we had solved this now.
Hi Prashant,
Kindly have a look into this URL, hope it will help. Also, kindly cross check your sitemap XML schema validation.

Thank you Scott for your prompt reply.
Can anyone on the group direct me to the solution / workaround?
No. everything is deployed on production. We just changed some menu names / grouped them.. that's it... also we are using sitemap editor tool...
If it works ok in your development org, it could be that you are referencing an entity that has not been deployed to production?
I suggest that if you do not already you use the XrmToolbox sitemap editor. github.com/.../XrmToolBox
