Unable to install CRM 2013 Outlook Client x64 - urgent

I’m aware of the pre-reqs and have fully packaged and automated their installs (which installs successfully). However when it comes to installing the actual CRM 2013 Outlook client itself, installation fails with the following error:

12:11:16|   Info| Failed to find the Visual C++ runtime installation file VCRedist9SP1\vcredist_x86.exe.

Given it's x64 Office and x64 Windows 7 I don't know why it is looking for x86 MS Visual C++ Redistributable.  Also I have manually successfully installed the Outlook client.  It fails however when automating the install when it comes to trying to find the above file.  I've also manually installed this and still it says It cannot find it.  Below is most of the setup log files.

After some searching I heard there should be a Redist folder with pre-reqs included so I've added similar to what is on the media CD JUST the VCRedist folders within the Redist folder.  Still failed.

Please can someone help me with this as i'm really stuck.  I'm trying to install this via SCCM 2012 btw.

    The error message you receive compared to the trace messages suggests that it tries to install the 64-bit version but cannot find that in the temporary redist directory. Could you try installing the 64-bit version manually (link 1 below)? List of redistributables to download in case of no internet connection listed in link 2. You might also need to clear the install files from the directory it lists.

    Hi Sharpy,

    We have an issue going on with us where product team is working to get this fixed. The issue is "Client setup fails if higher version of VC++ Redist package is pre-installed"

    If there is a newer version of the package installed on the machine, than the one the installer tries to install it will fail.

    What you should do as an action plan to fix this issue at the moment is:

    Remove following or any version that you have in the machine:-

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x64 9.0.30729.6161

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.6161

    and manually install or let the setup install VCRedist 9 SP1 with version 9.0.30729.17.

    Please mark this as answer if it works.

    Thanks,

    Arpita

    Okay I will give that a go and see how I get on.  I notice when installing via SCCM if I install under the User context the CRM 2013 Outlook client installs as expected.  However if I install it under the system account it fails requesting the VRedist c++ redistributable as shown above in my initial error.  This would be okay installing as user except not all users are local admins.  Are you aware of this?  Has anyone managed to install under the system context successfully?

    Hey Sharpy2014,

    I'm not sure if you are still seeing this issue, but when you setup the Redist folder for the 2013 client the pre-req files and file names should match those listed in the following article:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj126125%28v=crm.6%29.aspx

    In addition to this, your folder structure should actually be similar to the following:

    Client-Folder-Contents.PNG

    The DVD folder you create will contain the Redist folder and all of the pre-reqs per the TechNet article. You should then take all of your other files (including the current "Client" folder) and move them into a new Client folder.

    The newly created Client folder's contents should look similar to the following:

    As long as all of the pre-req files and folders are named correctly, this should work through SetupClient.exe in SCCM. Hopefully that information helps!

    Best Regards,
    -Bobby

    Thanks for posting this information.  I am experiencing the same issue, but for the 2016 client.  I have a problem with this program trying to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 when it, or a newer version, is already installed on the machine.  It appears to not put the extracted files in the temp folder from where it runs, then presents an error of "The system cannot find the specified product".  I have all of the pre-req folders in the correct locations (not sure if that applies to the 2016 client as I cannot find any information about it online).

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
