Okay, so.. im wanting to see if anyone has found a way to get data from a spreadsheet to store on CRM. How? Where? and is it a simple process.

I have a spreadsheet with 20+ tabs with contact information for atleast 50 people. I need to start using CRM more but i cant come up with a way to store the information the same - i have looked at the marketing lists but cant find the best way.

Im hoping this isnt too confusing and that someone could help me :)

    Hi Tashlouise,

For the first knowledge, you can refer to these links:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg328321.aspx

    www.microsoft.com/.../import-accounts-leads-or-other-data.aspx

    [View:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka4zsSU4rk8]

And here is if you want to update the existing record:

    www.powerobjects.com/.../mass-update-closed-opportunities-in-crm-2011

    www.powerobjects.com/.../updating-records-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm

Basically, for the very first time, you can download the Template,

You can go to Settings --> Data Management or just go to your purposed Entity, Contact :

Just remember that all of the column headers that you will see in the excel sheet after you download the template, are based on the Form. So if you need to include another field, just put the field to the Form, save and publish first before you download the import template.

The template will be in .XML format which is you can open using excel and you can have the validated columns as well, for example, for date time and picklist/option set.

To import more than 2 entities, if you need it, please refer to this link:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/emeadcrmsupport/archive/2011/09/12/multi-entity-data-file-import-mapping.aspx

If you have many fields that they did not exist in CRM, you can use this method:

    http://gotcrm.blogspot.com/2011/12/crm-2011-data-import-creating-custom.html

You are actually can create new field based on the column of the excel that you have on demand ad hoc at that time.

    Hope it helps!

    Thanks.

    Hello,

In the CRM, you have to download  the "Template for Import" . To find it, go to Workplace / Select the target entity / Click on "Import Data" / "Download Template for Import.

You have to complete the Excel file with your contact data.

Import your file with the standard import function.
