Base unit for Unit Groups

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello - When I have more than one unit group with the same base unit I get an error during upload that says "The base unit does not belong to this schedule" for all unit groups expect for the last unit group created.  So if I have 3 unit groups with the base unit as bottle and I upload a csv file with additional units for each unit group, all of them error out except for group 3.  I can game the system but doing one at a time, but is there a reason multiple units cannot or should not have the same base unit?  Thx.

    Hi MPIT

    Yes you are right.

Logically if different group should be able to have same base unit name.

Unless same unit name within SAME group

    See this article

But this is also system limitation that you can see here that CRM cannot really resolve the unit if it has duplicate name so they prevent it at the very first time you upload additional unit rather than you trying to start uploading product and price list. Might be the lack here is only the error message

    Especially this line

The Default Unit must be uniquely named.  Multiple Units with identical names (in any Unit Group) will cause the import to fail, because it does not look for the Unit in a specific Unit Group.  The failure is because CRM cannot properly resolve the Unit, due to name duplication.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks.
