ReportReport

After a successfull migration,  I was trying to run a report and got the following error

The report definition must include at least one reporting unit with an account mask and the default company

Any thoughts on how to bypass this error

Yes, sounds like the exact same error message I got, because looks like you have a tree on this report and none of the trees come over.  You need to go back into your trees and setup the account mask like you did before.  You actually have to open the dimensions and put back in the &&&&& and the ??? that you used to have there before.  Unlike FRx you cannot just paste them in the dimensions box like we used to.  Make sure you open the dimensions up and go in and put in your tree structure.

None of my trees brought in the dimensions, and fortunately there weren't that many trees that had to be cleaned up.  The references to the trees all existed, but without the dimension it just wouldn't work.

    Hey Susan,

Slight clarification. The amerpsand character (&) is no longer valid in trees in MR. You also can use dimensions with nothing in it, as that will just pull all data.

This error is most likely because of either:

    1. A failure in the migration and there are no links in the FD column of the row format

    2. The company in the Report Definition is not included in the companies listed in the attached reporting tree

    Thanks

    Ryan

Than when is the documentation all going to be cleaned up.  You have all this documentation out there that shows &&& for trees.  To me this is garbage and confusing.  Most of the documentation is taken right out of the old FRx manuals and was never corrected.  This is right off of the documentation in MR  Version 2.0.1700.31.

I wish Microsoft would get their act together.  They decided to push this product out the door and the documentation they put out with it is so full of holes.  I finally got all of my reports working but spent hours doing it and I was considered an expert in FRx for my VAR (16 years of supporting FRx).  At least when FRx first came out the documentation was good and reliable.

The following table shows the hierarchy and the reporting tree definition of the completed sample reporting tree. Use this table as a reference while you are working on the procedure in this section.

Sorry for the frustration Susan. We weren't able to do as much with the doc as we had originally hoped. We have this fixed in the doc that will relase with MR2012, but we weren't able to fix it in an earlier release. If you have any concerns with other doc feel free to msg me and I can verify that we will have it fixed in the next release.

Please note that I also had this error on an FRx to MR migration.  In this case the problem was caused by inconsistent segment names accross companies.   Client had set up the main segment description as 'ACCOUNT' in most companies, but left the default 'Segment 1' in a couple.  FRx couldn't care less about the Segment Description.  MR uses that description as the 'dimension'.  If you want to pull data from multiple companies, that description should be the same for all companies.  Correct it via Tools-Setup-Company-Account Format.
