I have a client that has entered items in stores and also hq. How can I get them to sync?

I tried a 250 and a 101 but it doesn't seem to do it.

Thanks,

-Jerry

    Hi Gerald,

All items must be created at Headquarters and then sent down to the store. Items created at the store level cannot be sent up to Headquarters.

    Jerry,

This is a task that can be done, but much care must be taken when fixing this.  First off, Keith is correct, that in HQ items should ONLY be pushed down from HQ to store.  But whats done is done.  You can fix this but you will have to follow these steps:

    1. Stop HQ Sync (exiting out of HQ Server will do the trick)
    2. Create the items at HQ, need to have the same information or the store's info will get over written.
    3. Open up the newly created HQ item in the database and find the ID value for the item
    4. Open up the same item at the store level in the database and put the value found in #3 into the HQID for that item.
    5. Repeat for any other items created in the way
    6. Start HQ Sync again
    7. Pray (this part is option, but I find it helps my peace of mind)

All kidding aside, we have been able to rejoin items for many customer in this way, though it can be cumbersome for many items.  A few important notes:

    • Proceed only if you are 150% confident in your ability to work with RMS at the database level.
    • TAKE BACKUPS OF BOTH HQ AND STORE OPS BEFORE DOING THIS! (Yes that was all upper case on purpose.)
    • Insert standard at your own risk, and RITE/me are not responsible, etc...
    • If you are experiencing a situation where items were created a both the store and HQ (same item) this will only fix one issue, you will still have duplicates.  Setting the same HQID for both items would be very bad, don't do it.

If you are  experiencing duplicates or need help resolving this issue, my support team would be happy to discuss the scope of the issues with you and come up with a plan on what it would take to fix.

    Re: Synchronize items with HQ

All answers above are correct.  However, we hve created as part of the Retail Realm Store Utility a took that finds all items in Store that do not have HQID and then creates them in HQ or gives a message that item is already in existence in HQ.  It aslso provides the facility to create a worksheet to synchronise and send data to all stores.  Please contact me if you wish to know more.
