Creating an activity view to see sender/recipient and to/from

Is there a way to set up a view so that we can see All closed Phone Calls and Emails but also display the sender/recipient from the phone call and the to/from from the email?

I would like to be able to go to an entity and have a quick view of who the back and forth of the communications are with.

I know this isn't something that I can do as a user because of limitations and those fields are not common throughout all activities but wanted to see if it is something that can be done behind the scenes as it would just be displaying the columns.

Yes, you can create a personal view in which you select the columns you want displayed. Create an advanced find then click on edit columns to add the sender/recipient columns. Then save the advanced find and that view will show up as an option in the activities view section.

    Thanks Tiera,

We've tried that.  The Sender/recipient and To/From columns are not available when I create an advanced find based on activites.

I can get those columns if I do an advanced find based on "Phone Call" or "Email Message" but I want them in the same view.  I don't want to have a view specifically for Phone calls and one for emails, I want to be able to see the flow of conversation.

I am afraid that there is no easy solution to this as the activity entity that is the smallest common denominator of email and phonecall does not have these fields.

This is also why you will not find it in the regular views in CRM.

The only workaround I can Think of if making a retrievemultiple plugin that adds this information to the response which switches based on what the type is. This will require a developer and is not that straight forward and will also create some inconsistencies in the system (like with exporting to excel).

    Thanks Gustaf,

I was afraid of that.  Everything that I've seen and read was leading me to this answer but wanted to check to see if anyone had any ideas.

    Hi there,

This tool allows you to quickly see all the interactions on an Account with a preview pane, like Outlook.  You can configure which fields show in the preview pane for each record type.
