Pipeline Phase set incorrectly on opportunity close

Posted on by

Hi

I have an issue where closing an opportunity sets the pipeline phase field to '4-Close'.  Currently my category field for Close is about 12th in the Option Set list, so i'm not sure where this value is coming from? The field is set correctly for all stage transitions.

On a side note, there also seems to be a bug when the following conditions are true:

1. you've created a new opportunity

2. you change the process flow before closing the form

If the above are true, the pipeline phase is not updated for the newly assigned process flow. I've fixed this by applying a workflow on entry to the first stage, but that's really just a patch.

Appreciate it if anyone has a solution, or know how the field is updated on close.

Cheers

I've learnt something. I might have to review all those workflows in the default solution now just in case! :). Thanks again, appreciated.

To be honest I'm still unsure why it is there when the pipeline phase is set by the category in the BPF anyway...

All I know is that it tripped me up too!

    Inksrm, you are a champ

I had never noticed this process before, and I bet its causing both issues I originally mentioned! Will remove now, and I expect problem solved.

I'm curious, do you know what this process is for? the pipeline is obviously updating correctly from BPF without this.

Are you using D365? If so, check if there is an out of the box workflow called 'Set Pipeline Phase'. Deactivate it and try closing an Opportunity to see if the pipeline phase is what you have set it be on close.

    Hi Inksrm

Thanks for your response. I've reordered, and re published, no effect. Because this is applied from opportunity close, its not actually set from any of the BPF stages.

Note though: I changed the text from Close to something else, and interestingly it still sets the value to 4-Close, this says to me that its not using the category option set at all and is maybe hard coded?

I've found that sometimes you need to 'refresh' the Category Option Set by moving one of the options up or down, saving it and publishing, then changing the options back to the correct order, saving and publishing.

Also check that you've aligned the categories correctly within the opportunity BPF.
