Hello, in a specific screen (InventTransItem form to be precise), when user presses ctrl-t i get the following error:

"An error occurred while exporting the data to Excel. Please contact your system administrator."

Any ideas what causes this error and how can i debug it?

Regards

The first immediate step can be delete Usage data

Second step can be analyzing if there is any customization on this particular form

Checked both no luck.Tried adding a breakpoint to SysGridExportToExcel > performPushAndFormatting method but it doesnt even go there...

Debugging class SysGridExportToExcel, can not benefit you, if Ctrl+C  (Copy), Ctrl+V (Paste) of data from this from to excel is working fine, because it works based on default windows copy paste. if issue is while exporting from this form, while working with other forms, it cannot be issue of SysGridExportToExcel (Class)

Hi, is Excel working fine on this computer? Does this happen for everybody or just one user? Does it happen on all forms? It seems that the breakpoint is not hit because there is an issue writing the data to Excel. Maybe the Excel or Dynamics installation is broken and needs to be repaired.

It happens for everybody and only on a single form.Ctrl-t and export to excel functions work flawlessly for other forms, reports etc...

What modifications have been done the table? Are there any display methods in any of the field groups? Have extra fields been added to the table? Are there any errors in the event viewer of the AOS and SQL Server giving you any clues?

    Hi

If you are using AX 2012 R2 CU7 there is a known bug.

There is a bug in the CU7 build where the kernel will only export to Excel fields directly on the grid, but not any fields in sub field groups. So in other words, if you have a grid with no underlying fields, but instead a field group containing the fields, the export to Excel will simply fail. This is a regression from previous versions, and you will need to update to a newer kernel version.

Microsoft recommends always running on the latest kernel build (same major version, of course). The KB you want in order to fix the problem explained in this post is this one: KB2927378

Unfortunately that is not the case with my situation.I have both grouped and seperate fields in the grid .We are also running CU6 build...

    Hi,

    three questions:

    - what is your Kernel (Ax32.Exe) version? Is this 6.2.100.1437 (from CU6 distribution)? Or a newer one? (if this is the x.x.x.1437, did you try a newer kernel - just for test?)

    - is this a local installed ax client or are you using ax over RDP (if yes, what is your excel destination within user settings, server or rdp client?)

    - does the error occur even if you select for example one row only only?

    regards

    Douglas

1-Both kernel and app versions are 1437

2-All users run ax on their local machnies.Tried it also on RDP, still get the same error.

3-I dont think its related to selection of the grid as well, because even if I select one row,or filter the grid to show only one row, i get the same error.

    Regards.
