Duplicate SOP numbers

I have two physical documents with the same SOP number and master number. When I do an inquiry by SOP number I am only seeing one of the documents?

How and where do I check for the other document. The batch was posted already.

    RE: Duplicate SOP numbers

Hello Richard, I know this is a very old post. But this happened to me this week.

I have the SOP Number duplicated in table SOP10100 and SOP30200, and did a check link, and didn't work.

How can I know which user did the posting?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

    Hi,

You can have the same SOP number. The table does not restrict this. What you won't have are two documents of the same document type with the same SOP number. GP is working as designed.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

I am encountering the same or similar issue, where I have an INVOICE and RETURN both with the same SOPNUMBE.

SOP30200 shows 2 records with the same SOPNUMBE.

RETURNS are set up to ' Use next number from Fulfillment Order/Invoice ID '

Any idea why this is happening please?

    RE: Duplicate SOP numbers

Duplicate SOP numbers are not permissible with GP. However, what can happen is that you have an unposted sales document with the same SOP number as a posted sales document. Now, the document number to which you refer, is it a quote, order, or invoice? If you go into SQL and look a this document record make note of the SOPTYPE value. Then you can run this in SSMS

SELECT * FROM SOP10100 WHERE SOPNUMBE='Your SOP number' and SOPTYPE='The number you found from the above instruction.

Then repeat the script only this time have it read

SELECT * FROM SOP30200 WHERE SOPNUMBE='Your SOP number' and SOPTYPE='The number you found from the above instruction.

Now, if this returns one record in each of these scripts, then you have a duplicate SOP document. If this indeed is the case, it is possible you had a posting interruption. You will need to dig deeper into the SOP30200 and SOP300 table for this document and type to see how much made it into sales history. If the item were sales inventory type you will need to reconcile your inventory to make sure quantities are correct.

You can have duplicate SOP, you have to setup the system to dont allow duplicate SOP. Can you tell me how  to get into the SQL DB to write Run the below query in SQL against company database.

SELECT * FROM SOP30200 WHERE SOPNUMBE = 'ENTER YOUR SOP NUMBER'

If you want to see the duplicate SOP, go to Smartlist, Customer Sales. and  go to the search windows, when you do the search you have to select contain, it will bring all SOP with those number

    :)

While printing documents from GP, it won't prevent/show any messages.

Note: If your problem was solved, then mark this as a verified. Because this will helps to someone who having the same problem.

    Hope this helps!!!

It is the same document type.

There was another instance of this happening. The user though said the document was printed, the customer paid for the items.

The customer then wanted something else, the line items from the initial document were removed and the others entered and subsequently printed and paid.

So we have two physical documents and two payments and one document number. I know this may not be a System issue, but if a document is printed, can it be prevented from being edited.

    RE: Duplicate SOP numbers

    Hi Rosemary,

GP will allow the same SOP number among documents so long as they are not the same document type. For instance, you can have an Order numbered 12345, and you can also have a Quote or a Back Order or an Invoice numbered 12345. The primary key for the SOP tables is a combination of the document number and the document type.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
