Architecture of Routing Link Codes

Dear all,

what would you suggest if I have a component that will be used twice or more in the same routing. Let's say I have an item that is need 16 times in a BOM. 8 pcs are needed at the first operation and 8 are needed at the fourth operation.

My thoughts:

1)
- BOM: One single line in the BOM with the item and with routing link code 1
- Routing: Assigning routing link code 1 to operation 1 and also to operation 4

2)
- BOM: Two Lines with the same item and each line with quantity 8
- Routing: Assigning routing linke code 1 to operation 1 and routing link code 2 to operation 4.

Does the answer depend on the flushing method?

Thank you very much!

Option 2 feels like correct one, but I haven't tested this , so other expert might know for sure.

Option 2 is the correct way to handle this.  It ensures you will allocate the appropriate materials to the correct operations.

Flushing method doesn't matter, but Backward Flushing with a Routing Link Code will speed up the auto-consumption to the output of each operation, rather than the Finish of the Production Order.
