Blank Value in Account Structures

Hi All,

Has anyone worked with the new Dynamics AX (I.e. AX 7) and configured account structure?  I have noticed that a blank value cannot be stated for a particular segment. 

For example in 2012 R2 and R3, one could state a condition such as

IF Business Unit is "" THEN No Blanks are allowed for Department.

In AX7, as soon as I enter Business Unit is "", the system then adds ;* to the expression and this means that the Business Unit segment can have any value or blank. 

Any thoughts on how to state blank condition in account structures?

    Hi Sunil,

    You can use a workaround for this.

    Add a non existing Business unit value in the filter. E.g. "";notexists

    Then on other rows you possibly have to use !notexists to indicate you want to have all other values or e.g. 000..999.

    Thanks for the response André.  I know that there are various workarounds to achieve the desired result.  However,  do you think that there is a reason why Microsoft has removed this facility from 2012 R3 to AX7?  

    I wonder if there is an impact on "Financial Reporting" if a segment is blank!

    Hi Sunil,

    I have never used your combination before, so was just curious and tested a workaround. I think Microsoft could have overlooked something when redesigning the user experience for web browsers.

    Until now I have not noticed issues when you were allowed to leave segments blank (AX 2012).
