Unresponsive tender screen in RMS

I'm having an issue where the tender screen becomes unresponsive. You cannot hit the cancel or OK button, X button to close the window, or use the arrow/number keys to make any changes in the tender window.

This is happening on machines running Win7 x64 and RMS 2.0.0126. We are using the Mercury/Retail Realm software for credit card processing. The issue typically occurs once you have entered the total or hit the + key to proceed with a CC/debit transaction, then the Mercury window pops up, and then the transaction is cancelled on the screen or on the IPAD, and it brings you back to an unresponsive tender window at that point. You cannot use arrow keys or mouse cursor to do anything in the tender window. I have found that occasionally the Escape key on the keyboard will allow you to close the tender window and then proceed with the transaction. Sometimes that doesn't work, and I have to actually log off the current Windows user and then log back in to get RMS to work again. There are no error messages that I can see when this happens.

This is not happening at any of our locations using WinXP 32-bit, so my hunch is that it has something to do with Win7 64 and the Mercury Pay/Retail Realm software. Has anybody seen this behavior or have any ideas?

    I should also mention that it does not happen all the time, only intermittently.

    What version of RRMPS?  Its on the login screen. Current shipping version is 1.1.027

    It happened on 14, and I updated to 27 a while back to see if that would fix it, but it did not.

    We have .27 installed on both 32 and 64, More 32 than 64 as we just (~ 6 months) started using 64 at the Registers.

    We have about 3 dozen stores using it without issue but there is one, with 3 (32b) Registers, that's finishing off the sale when one hits the + key every so often, that we are investigating, something that started about a month ago. Mercury doesn't see the transaction not is it showing in the RRMPS log.

    Are you cancelling the RRMPS window and then the RMS window?  Have you tried the newish "Reset iPAD" button in the RRMPS window instead of the cancel?

    Well, whether you hit the cancel button on the IPAD or the Reset IPAD button on RRMPS, you still have to click Finish on the RRMPS window to get back to the RMS tender total prompt. It is that RMS tender total screen that is locking up.

    And the issue you are talking about with it just finishing the sale without processing the CC transaction sounds like an issue we have had when RRMPS is operating in offline mode.

    Have to gotten Mercury/RR involved yet?

    Client doesn't use offline or stored card numbers. It is sometimes the very first transaction of the day or sometimes its the first transaction after a system re-start, sometimes its just in the middle of the day, completely random and it affects all 3 registers. Worse, it just started about a month ago with ~7 months without issue!

    I haven't gotten them involved yet. It's just my hunch that it is their software causing the conflict, so I wanted to see if anyone here had a similar issue before I contacted them and started blaming them.
