Hi all,
Is it possible to use the CRM 2013 client for outlook with CRM 4.0 server?
Thanks,
Jan

Hi,
I haven't tried that but it's highly unlikely considering that the endpoints have changed. MS recommends that you stay within 2 update rollups (updates/release version) between the server and client, and you shouldn't have a more modern client than server.

Thank you Rickard.
Hello Jan,
Thank you for your query.
Can I know is there any specific reason for such a configuration?
CRM 4.0 is quite an older version compared to CRM 2013 and as CRM 2013 has introduced many new additional features, there might be a possibility that it may not function properly.
If you are having a CRM 4.0 client then I would suggest using Outlook 2010 and not Outlook 2013.
It is listed as not compatible:
support.microsoft.com/.../3005186
Personal Experience, you would be able to configure it but there are a lot of limitations to it. And you are going to face a lot of performance issues due to this.
I suggest you not to use a hybrid configuration as such, or best you can have your server upgraded to CRM 2013 so that you can use CRM 2013 client for outlook.
I hope this helps.
Do inform me if you have any update about the same. Feel free to reply here and I'll be glad to assist you.
